Music Marketing #1

 Heyy!! So for this assignment we are doing a whole marketing for a brand new artist or band. And the musical genre we got was country. Which for me was weird cause I  don’t  ever listen to country music or even necessarily like it. But to start of the project we had to do some research. And I researched Luke Bryan the country singer. It was honestly pretty interesting because he’s involved in some many different things and has started so many companies, so it definitely helped me see more what a “country’s artist” marketing campaign looks like.

 In between me and my groups research we gained a lot of insight and ideas. This helped us come up with a cool and different marketing campaign for our singer. I’m really excited to present it and show our work because I think we have some good ideas. I kinda wish it was a real person…now we just need to put everything together and film a music video prototype!!! So exctingggg😋😋

Horror research blog :)

Since today is Halloween (the best holiday of they year) I decided to research about horror. So first any horror movie of course had to have the theme of death, a unknown creature, etc. And the characters usually are being haunted by some type of mister or creature. AND THEY ALWAYS HAVE A CLEAR CHANCE TO RUN AWAY AND THEY DONT. Of course you can’t forget the abandoned houses, or forests where they typically take place. 

The production is typically dark and eerie, using a lot of shadows in the lighting. There are jump scares, and creepy noises. And music that builds up to seeing something. Camera shots can either be shaky to give the sense like someone is watching, or still so you feel like your looking over the characters.

The marketing for most movies is just trailers gat have the cliff hanger, and the iconic face of shock. But others, like smile take it to another level by hiring actors to go to different events and just smile. This is definitely showing how marketing is just getting more and more competitive and smile is definitely popping off. A lot of horror movies are also released during October near halloween or on a Friday the 13th.

 This movie is a perfect example of horror it uses a haunted house setting, a family and involvement of paranormal activity . The production techniques include eerie lighting, unsettling music, and  jump scares. The marketing highlighted the "based on a true story" aspect, adding to the fear factor.

This movie combines horror with social commentary, using the genre to explore themes of racism and exploitation. The setting is a home seems normal and becomes more unsettling. Production techniques like using music to build up a scene are used.

Sound Project

 Were were given an assignment which was called the Sound Project. It was a direct opposite to our last project. This time we had to focus on sound and tell a story based on noise. We also had to make some of our own sound effects which is called foley.

With my partner we started thinking of things we do during our day that can produce a lot of sound. We thought of an airport setting, going to school, but ultimately ended up deciding on going to a grocery store. We decided this because its something that everyone does and it would be easy to interpret.

I definitely have a lot more appreciation for foley artist now. We only had to create 4 of our own sounds for the project but I still found it hard to do (and mine were pretty basic so i cant imagine more in depth ones.) 

This assignment is going to help me listen closely when writing our next analysis essay. Now I feel more ready to identify different sound, and techniques that could be used in different scenes.

Camera Shots Quiz

 On this assignment we were given the directions to tell a story of an inanimate object while using only 15 shots and specific camera shots/angles we had to use.

My partner and I decided to tell the story of a colored pencil that wasn’t taken care of correctly and got worn out. 

I think I could’ve done a lot better on the quiz. Since it was the first one I was pretty nervous and wasn’t able to be as creative as I usually am. I think that next time around ill be able to do a better job now that I know what the quizzes are like. I also have a better understanding of the different camera shots I now then I did before. This is because I was able to discuss with my classmates and see it in a different light. Below ill link the quiz.
